1. Waleran, Count of the Vexin died in 965.
Waleran could trace his line back to the Duke of Brabant and Charlemagne.
The Counts of the Vexin were the lords of a district situated on the northern
borders of France as they existed in the tenth century and which lay between
France and the ducal possessions of the House of Normandy. This little district,
known as the Vexin, was sometimes under the suzerain control of the Norman dukes
and sometimes under that of the French crown; but finally became absorbed with
Normandy by the latter.
Waleran, Count of the Vexin and Edelgarde were married.
Edelgarde was a daughter of the Count of Flanders and a great-granddaughter
of Alfred the Great of England. Waleran, Count of the Vexin and Edelgarde had
the following children:
