SIXTH GENERATION

1073. James TERRELL was born in near Lynchburg, VA. He died in Booneville, MO. This possible son of Edward Terrell is not shown in the Quaker records (all the other children listed are listed). Emma Dicken (p.175) speculates he may have left the Friends society or that he might be adopted. This James Terrell's son, Col. Robert Adams Terrell, writes about his father: "My father was James Terrell, born in Virginia near Lynchburg; emigrated to Tennessee at an early day, served with General Jackson in all his wars; commanded a regiment in the battle of the Horse-Shoe, and led the famous "wedge" that surrounded the last stronghold of the Indians in that battle (for which Gen. Coffee got all the credit)." "My father was a brother to Dr. Christopher J. Terrell, whose two sons live in Texas, Judge Alexander W. Terrell at Austin and Captain J.C. Terrell at Fort Worth." (Letter dated 5 Dec 1879, addressed to Gen. W.H.H.Terrell of Indianapolis, IN; quoted in Dicken, p.175-6).

He was married to Penelope ADAMS (daughter of James ADAMS and Mary IRVINE) on 16 Jun 1798 in Campbell County, VA. James TERRELL and Penelope ADAMS had the following children:
