142. Holmes Powers THOMAS was born on 10 Jun 1941. Powers was originally named Joseph Homes Thomas. But at the age of about two years, his name was changed to Holmes Powers Thomas.
Powers Thomas graduated from Randolph-Macon College in 1963 with a B.A. degree in Political Science. He served on the faculty of the University of Virginia for two years. He served two years active duty with the Naval Reserve as an Admiral's aide and a journalist. In 1960, he joined his father's Insurance firm, Armfield Harrison and Thomas; and in 1981 was named President. He has now retired.

He was married to Nancy Wallace SCHWARZWALDER on 9 Jul 1966 in Arlington, VA. He was divorced from Nancy Wallace SCHWARZWALDER.

He was married to Penelope Sue JERGENSON on 30 Sep 1975. He was divorced from Penelope Sue JERGENSON.

He was married to Carolyn Andrews LUGAR on 9 May 1987 in Round Hill, VA. Carolyn Andrews LUGAR was born on 12 Oct 1945 in Washington, DC.
