According to the research of Ron Adams, William Paynter was Clarke of ye Ordynance and Armory of London. An Arms and Crest was awarded to William Paynter sometimes before 1568 making him Sir William Paynter of Ordynance and Armory of London.

He was married to Dorothe BARHAM (daughter of Edward BARHAM). William PAYNTER and Dorothe BARHAM had the following children:

3 ii. William PAYNTER⁽²⁾ was born about 1560.
4 iii. George PAYNTER⁽²⁾ was born about 1564.

7 vi. Katherine PAYNTER⁽²⁾.
8 vii. Dorothe PAYNTER⁽²⁾.
9 viii. John PAYNTER⁽²⁾ was born in Norfolk County, England.
John Paynter of Norfolk was awarded Arms July 11, 1609.
