FOURTH GENERATION

41. Leonard Leon PAYNTER was born on 16 May 1924 in Wise, NC.
Leonard and Edna Paynter spent most of their life in and around Wise, North Carolina. In a note dated 15 July 1997, Edna described it as a "full and busy life."
Leonard farmed for a while and then went on to become a carpenter, working on all three of the Roanoke River dams in the area: John Kerr, Roanoke Rapids and Gaston. Leonard and Edna also operated a small grocery store for 17 and a half years. Leonard also continued to do carpentry work, helping build many homes in the Wise area.
Edna proudly reports that four of her children finsihed High School and the fifth married a teacher and so, she says, "...gets extra credit."

He was married to Edna STIGELL on 24 Nov 1943. Edna STIGELL was born on 31 Mar 1929. Leonard Leon PAYNTER and Edna STIGELL had the following children:
