FIFTH GENERATION

9. Roger Cocke BAILEY was born about 1727 in Henrico County, Virginia. He died about 1785 in Charlotte County, Va. (?).
In addition to the land he apparently inherited from his father in Henrico County, he purchased 60 acres of land along Bluestone Creek in Charlotte County, Virginia, in 1777. In a small way, it supports the possibility his brother Henry is our Henry in Lunenburg since it suggests this generation of sons was moving to counties South of Henrico.
Roger Cocke Bailey enlisted in the Revolutionary army in 1781 as a Corporal in Cpt. James Gunn's company of Virginia Regulars from Charlotte County (Virginia Colonial Militia, Crozier, Henrico County, 1774-1782).
